Women-Owned Business By Industry

Industry
Most women-owned businesses in Missouri are concentrated in three main industry sectors – Other Services (33,076), Health care and Social Assistance (26,513) and Retail Trade (20,077). Other significant sectors include Professional, Scientific and Technical Services (18,237) and Administrative and Support and Waste Management and Remediation Services (15,524).

In terms of total sales and receipts, however, the largest grossing industries are Wholesale Trade, Retail Trade, Construction, Manufacturing and Health Care and Social Assistance. This indicates that although Wholesale trade, Construction and Manufacturing have fewer firms, they have a larger impact on Missouri's economy in terms of gross sales.

Management of Companies and Enterprises gained the most ground by tripling the amount of businesses from 16 to 54 followed by Other Services (except Public Administration) (48.8%), Wholesale Trade (43.5%), Manufacturing (43.5%) and Health Care and Social Assistance.
