Missouri Veteran Population and Expenditures

The Veteran Population in the US totaled 21.3 million people in 2016. Missouri had the 15th highest veteran population among all states with California and Texas in the 1st and 2nd spots.


The Veteran Population in Missouri totaled 482,094 in 2016. Leading the counties with the highest veteran population was St. Louis County with 65,709 followed by Jackson (45,452), St. Charles (30,494), Greene (24,471) and Jefferson (20,706).

Total expenditures for veterans including compensation and pension, construction, educational and vocational rehabilitation, loans, expenses and insurance amounted to just under $3.63 billion. The following map shows the total expenditures by county in Missouri.
