DED Bids Farewell to Marty Romitti, Ph.D., Director of MERIC
The Department of Economic Development (DED) wishes a fond farewell to Dr. Marty Romitti, Ph.D., the founding director of MERIC, as he accepts a new career opportunity at the University of Massachusetts later this month.
The Missouri Economic Research and Information Center (MERIC), was formed in 2001 by the merger of the state's Labor Market Information unit with the DED Research group. This merger combined benchmark industry and occupational data collection, used as a foundation for many economic indicators, with innovative analysis provided by research and communication specialists. The merger put Missouri at the forefront of economic research and has resulted in MERIC being recognized with 12 national awards for research excellence over the past 10 years.
Romitti will continue his work in economic policy research as he leads the Economic and Public Policy Research group at the Donahue Institute, the public service, outreach, and economic development unit of the University of Massachusetts. We thank Marty for outstanding Department leadership and wish him the very best in his new endeavors.
