Missouri Fuel Prices Fall

According to the AAA Daily Fuel Gauge Report, as of December 31st, 2014, the retail price for a gallon of regular unleaded gasoline in Missouri averaged $1.90Gas Graph for Missouri and US November 2012 to 2014 per gallon, 35 cents lower than the national average of $2.25. Gasoline prices in Missouri have fallen $1.15 in the past year.

Recent falling gas prices have many people wondering, why? The cost of crude oil in the global marketplace and the sales of gas efficient vehicles help dictate the price of gasoline. The graph to the right shows the average gas prices in Missouri have been consistently lower than the U.S. average.

Missouri has the lowest gas prices in the nation followed by Oklahoma and Ohio.

Missouri gas prices dropped 58 cents this past month. Average diesel prices are $2.87 per gallon, 63 cents lower than the Missouri pump prices one month ago.

Hawaii topped gas prices in the nation at $3.52 a gallon followed by Alaska with $3.06. For a list of all of the states, click here.

Missouri and Its Neighbors

Missouri had the lowest gas and second lowest diesel prices of all its neighboring states. Illinois and Nebraska have the highest average gas prices at $2.20 a gallon followed by Arkansas at $2.15.

Missouri Metro Areas
St. Louis has the lowest gas prices in Missouri at $1.81 per gallon, followed by Columbia ($1.82), Springfield ($1.86) and Kansas City ($1.88). St. joseph has the highest gas prices at $1.91 per gallon.
