Kansas City Tops Population Estimates
with Most Residents in State

A ranking of city population estimates from the U.S. Census Bureau shows Kansas City as the most populous city in Missouri and the 39th most populous in the country. With a population of 450,375 in 2007, Kansas City experienced the largest increase in the state with over 3,500 more residents from the previous year.


Other Missouri cities with large increases were O'Fallon (3,029), Columbia (2,323), Wentzville (1,787),and Blue Springs (1,276).

Saddlebrooke Village had the highest population percent increase in the state from 2006 to 2007, increasing by 221.7 percent. Other cities with significant percentage increases were Rogersville (15.2%), Loch Lloyd Village (13.7%), Clever (13.1%), and Bates (10.4%).

The U.S. city with the largest population was New York City with 8.27 million residents. Three Texas cities (Houston, San Antonio, and Dallas) and three California cities (Los Angeles, San Diego, and San Jose) were in the top ten in population.
