Missouri’s quarterly export totals reached double digit growth for the first time since the recession began, bringing the annual total to $9.5 billion in 2009. Missouri’s fourth quarter 2009 exports increased 16% from the previous quarter, led by significant gains in food and kindred products (20%), computer and electronics products (24%), agricultural products (246%), and minerals and ores (70%). Nearly all of the top exporting industries showed gains over the third quarter signifying a favorable outlook for 2010.
Fourteen Missouri industries each topped $100 million in export sales in 2009.
Export Partners
Missouri's top tenexport recipients during the year were Canada, Mexico, China (mainland), Japan, Germany, United Kingdom, Republic of Korea, Brazil, Belgium and Singapore accounting for 75 percent of the state's export revenues. Singapore is new to Missouri's top ten in 2009 replacing Netherlands from last year's list.
