2010 Missouri Exports
Missouri's fourth quarter exports were up over 16% from the third quarter of 2010. This brings the overall Missouri 2010 export total to $12.9 billion, an increase of over 35% from the 2009 total. Nearly every Missouri export category increased in 2010, led by sharp gains in its top two export categories, Transportation Equipment (50%) and Chemicals (41%). Transportation Equipment gains were driven by a 94% increase in aerospace exports; while a 57% increase in basic chemicals was the primary driver in Chemical exports.
Fourteen Missouri industries each topped $160 million in export sales in 2010. They include transportation equipment ($3.0 billion), chemicals ($2.7 billion), machinery ($1.4 billion), food and kindred products ($1.2 billion), electrical equipment ($662 million), computer and electronic products ($632 million), fabricated metal products ($443 million), minerals and ores ($440 million), waste and scrap ($421 million), agricultural products ($421 million), primary metal manufacturing ($287 million), plastic and rubber ($237 million) miscellaneous manufactured commodities ($198 million), and printing, publishing and similar products ($167 million).
Export Partners
Missouri's top ten export recipients during the year were Canada, Mexico, China (mainland), Korea, Japan, Belgium, Singapore, Germany, Brazil and United Kingdom accounting for 95 percent of the state's export revenues. The top 10 export destinations remained the same as the previous year; however significant increases in exports to Korea, Belgium, and Singapore boosted these three countries in rank. Aerospace exports from Missouri to Korea increased by $275 million (367%) and to Singapore by $164 million (1,425%). Basic chemical exports to Belgium increased $187 million (144%) in 2010.

Region
The chart below shows the destination by continent of Missouri's 2010 exports. The percent of Missouri exports going to Asia increased in 2010, up to 29% from 26% in 2009. South America also took in a higher percentage, up to 8% in 2010 from 6%. The Oceanic (and Australian) region also increased its share of Missouri exports in 2010. The offset to the Asian, South American, and Oceanic growth was a percentage decline in North America, down to 41% from 45%, and Europe, down from 19% to 18%.
