MERIC Extends Its Outreach Efforts
The Missouri Economic Research & Information Center's (MERIC) mission is to provide value-added economic research with a customer focus -- to every corner of the state. Part of fulfilling this mission includes extending MERIC's outreach efforts.
Franciena
King, MERIC's Outreach, Training and Technology Manager and
Workforce Investment Board (WIB) liaison for the East Jackson
County, Kansas City Vicinity and West Central regions, recently
facilitated a targeted industry workshop in Kansas City.
Thelma Crawford, a Division of Workforce Development (DWD) business
representative, organized the event for the Kansas City and Vicinity
Coordination Team.
The workshop focused on understanding labor market information and how to use that information for targeting industries in the area. As part of this training, Franciena demonstrated how graphing MERIC's Industry Projections for 2002 to 2012 for the Kansas City Region can be used to easily identify industries that are projected to grow or decline in the long-term.

This workshop was held at the Business and Technology Center in Kansas City and included participants from around the area, including Citi Cards, Aquila, Metropolitan Community College's Business & Technology College, and federal, local and state agencies.
