Although weather and geopolitical events can affect fuel prices quickly, the
recent decrease in gas prices has had many people wondering, why? The cost of crude oil in the global marketplace helps dictate the price of gasoline, and with economic conditions uncertain overseas, the demand for oil has dropped, resulting in lower gas prices we are seeing today. The graph to the right shows that average gas prices in Missouri have been consistently lower than the U.S. average.
Missouri posted the lowest gas prices in the nation, with South Carolina, Tennessee and Texas following.
