There were 6,178 Hispanic-owned firms in Missouri in 2007, up from 3,652 in 2002, according to data from the U.S. Census Bureau's 2007 Survey of Business Owners. This represents a 69.1 percent increase in the number of Hispanic-owned firms in the state. These firms accounted for $1.38 billion in sales and receipts in 2007.
In the U.S., there were 2.26 million Hispanic-owned firms in 2007, up 43.7 percent from 2002. Sales and receipts from Hispanic-owned firms increased 55.5 percent from 2002 totaling $350.7 billion in receipts in 2007. Hispanic-owned firms made up 8.3 percent of all firms in the nation.
States with the largest number of Hispanic-owned businesses were California (566,573), Florida (450,137), Texas (447,589), New York (193,183) and New Jersey (68,374). In addition, California also had the largest gross sales from Hispanic-owned firms. Missouri ranked 27th among the states in the total number of Hispanic-owned firms.

Only four states recorded more than 100,000 Hispanic-owned businesses in 2007. Twenty-eight states, including Missouri, had fewer than 10,000 Hispanic-owned firms.

States with the highest percentage of Hispanic-owned businesses, as a percent of all firms, were concentrated in the southwestern portion of the United States. States with the largest concentration of Hispanic-owned businesses were New Mexico (23.7 percent), Florida (22.4 percent), Texas (20.7 percent) and California (16.5 percent). In Missouri, Hispanics owned 1.2 percent of all firms in 2007, up from 0.8 percent of all firms in 2002.

States with the highest percentage change of Hispanic-owned businesses between 2002 and 2007 were Arkansas (159.6%), North Carolina (135.5%), Pennsylvania (106.8%) and Tennessee (102.3%).
